I occasionally publish articles about financial topics through my Resources page.
The topics cover a wide range of financial educational matter. Sometimes a client asks a question and I think, hmmm, that would make a great Resource post. Topics inspired by client questions include budgets, inheriting assets, the difference between pretax vs post-tax savings, and backdoor Roth conversions.
Sometimes I come across an industry study or trend, and I think it might be relevant for my clients, who are usually families with young children and/or women making financial decisions for themselves and their families. Here’s an example of a financial literacy quiz I thought was interesting, particularly since I believe we don’t do a good job educating folks about personal finance in our school system.
And other times, I find inspiration in a particular behavioral or mindset aspect of financial planning. This is particularly interesting to me because so much of what we do when it comes to money is not purely rational – instead, our decisions can be made based on a variety of inputs, including how attentive we are to the decision, our state of mind at the time, and who we consult for advice. Read an example here and here.
